I dehydrate normally then vacum seal and store in freezer, I just went on a walk where I ate meals with meat in them that had been stored in the freezer for just over a year and had no problems with it.

freeze dried meals do last longer but I havnt encounted any great benefits to make me want to switch.

A good tip is to make a test batch that you rehydrate before going away to see if its still good. (but do this at least 4 days proir to leaving as you wont have time to replace any off stuff otherwise!)
