In Victoria only the redback spider can kill you. Apparently the bites are extremely painful so you will probably know that something is wrong -apply cold pack and seek medical attention. Got a few of those hanging out in my garage.
Other spiders may inflict painful bites and symptoms may vary for individuals. Wash the bite with soap and water (seek medical attention if symptoms develop or persist).
If you are hanging out in NSW and get bitten by the male Sydney funnelweb then apply pressure bandage and seek medical attention.
Some spiders live for many years (apparently trapdoor spider 5-20 years!) and take years to reach maturity. So if you find them in your house please escort them outside. A glass and a piece of paper work well.
Deaths from spiders are so rare that I would be more worried about driving a car (or climbing :)
Those bull ants on the other hand - they are evil!
