Dear Rock-
It’s crisp but I’m not cold. My hands are numb. I’m sweating. From my tentative stance I can see the next decent hold a few meters above me. My legs start to tremble uncontrollably as all the blood in my body rushes to my head. I feel like I have been clinging to these mean walls forever. Everything hurts. I can’t move up or down. If I stay in this spot I will almost certainly fall off (and plunge to an untimely and not implausibly agonizing DEATH). I’d dearly like to move but there’s no holds. My fingers sweep across the smooth rock looking for purchase. There’s f--- all. I look down. My last piece of gear is a tiny nut I left decorating a fissure several body lengths below. The wall is dead vertical and so naturally feels quite overhung. My feet are balanced on some unfriendly nubbins while my fingers are being irreparably damaged by clinging to individual particles of sand. I’m tired but reluctant to move any further away from my last piece of gear. I shift my weight on to my other foot. The movement in the rope catches the nut and I watch in horror as it pops out and slides down the length of the rope to my belayer, who stands far beneath me amidst a field of jagged stones and is yelling something that I’m too busy trying not to fall to my death to catch. Everything hurts and i still can’t move. I will fall off within a few seconds. There’s that voice still coming at me, “DON’T FALL!” it screams, and I realise the voice is not my own when it adds “I’m not anchored!”
My belayer is stationed 30 meters below me, a further 50 meters from the valley floor. She is attached to me by way of 60 meters of 9mm nylon rope. I am not attached to anything. I can’t see her face but I know her expression is one of concern and helplessness. I steel myself and yell something like “arrrrrr!”. I fling my body up towards the giant hold above me. Time slows down. I can feel the fibres of my muscles working, like a racehorse, I think. Ew. The hold is within reach. My hands are all over it like pancake batter. I think I have it, but my hands start to slip. I’m gonna fall.
I wake up.

hahahaha
mean walls ahahahahahaha

Not really into benzos, but I'll keep it in mind.

You're obviously working the wrong street.
