The real problem is with captions and citations not the image. It is the honesty in reporting what the image represents that is important in this regard. If the photographer is an artist and makes it very clear that the work was formulated and presented as art, what is the problem? Painters regularly distort, copy or otherwise alter reality. Why not the photographer? In a movie, purposely tilting the angle of a cliff may be entertaining and dramatic. It's accepted. What about the same thing in a climbing guide? It may be untruthful and misleading. What about failing to show the ground / ledge just 1m below a struggling climbers feet? Not so clear. Give the man a break.
