Guides try calling Ski Chute 4 in Mansfield. They used to do some backcountry stuff but changed hands a while back and may not.
Your probably going to have to wait and see what next years season brings if you want to go alpine at buller. I got back from there last night having spent most of the week skiing there and I do have to advise, the conditions are pretty ordinary. Theres barely enough snow to keep just over half the runs open for downhill. Theres still an awful lot of brown poking through the white.
