If this is so, how come the media nor forums such as this have harped on more about
the Springwood extended family that were benighted - in Springwood, their local area.
The manner of Andrew McAuley's demise was on the front page of the newspaper. top
story on TV etc for weeks, even after intentions were declared and an EPIRB was
carried before venturing off alone. Now he is just 'that guy' to many. And so will Jamie
Neale's legacy be nil, as was David Iredale's, the (belatedly suppressed) Eastwood
accountant's and Rodney Ansell - who survived his ordeal (primarily because he had a
gun), yet few recall his name, though his lifestyle was used to create the character
Crocodile Dundee, and Ansell was intriguingly shot dead by a NT cop returning fire after
his partner was gunned down by Ansell.
