If you want blackheath recommend hiring a house.
For further afield:
Katoomba YHA is pretty touristy when I stayed there to do some fieldwork. Hawesbury Heights - YHA lodge is pretty good. Plenty of room and you can book the whole thing out.. but it is lower bluies and its a 50k drive to get to blackheath.
If you're accessing Kanangra Boyd NP Jenolen Caves has a backpackers which is usually very quiet - $60 for two per night. There is also camping on the top of the Plateau.
If you're accessing Wollemi NP - Wolgan Valley/Newnes - good camping spot.
