.6.6% is the return I have on my system but also where power is increasing by about 10% p.a and I can claim depreciation on the capitals costs so actual return to me is much greater . As for digesting cow shit the capital costs are huge , and energy consumption would probably be equal to energy produced .
Back to the economics of a 1KW pv system.
OUTLAY $480 for meter change over deposit $2500 returned when grant paid .
Nett cost $480.
RETURN Figure quoted for both Melbourne and Sydney 1400 Kwh p.a.
Power (origin energy = 17.5 cent per kwh plus 10 % gst ) =1400*1.1*0.175
=$269.50 p.a. saving minium
NOW if you actually feed back unused power to the grid current origin energy payment is 23.5 cents going up to 66 cent next financial year .
Say you put
10% of 1400 back into the grid that is an extra $32.90 going up to $ 92.4 next year
20% of 1400 65.80 184.8
23% back into the grid would see you get all your $480 back in a year !!!!!!!
In our area we produce 1600 + pa and vurrently back feed 25 % of produced back into the grid
This might not be the most ideal scheme but it is financially worth while and I believe you are crazy if you dont partake before the $8000 dissappears
