Wendy is pretty well on the money. Its not the tragedy that you eastern seaboarders seem to think it is (that awaits you in Perth where they havent even heard of weekend shopping and daylight saving in the last couple of years has been on a trial basis only).
Theres plenty of quite respectable climbing close to the city. Theres access to larger crags about 4hours north or east (Araps and Moonarie). Theres heaps of good roads for bikes. The beaches are ok for swimming, but if surfing is your thing you will find yourself heading down south to places like Waitpinga.
The night life is a little quieter than Sydney Melbourne or BrisVegas but thats mostly because we dont have the population density.
Public transport is OK but not up to the standards set by the Eastern capitals, once
again, issues of population density.
And the best reason of all to move here, NO TOLL ROADS.
