not only that, the removal of the tab of metal enables the rope to slide more easily through the grigri as you climb - this improves the device for both top rope and lead (I was having to manually feed rope before the mod). Having the device clipped up to a chest harness keeps it out of the way too.

Hence you should tie backup knots in the rope below you. Either that, or stick to easier routes and just don't fall off.
