Nominations for the Rick White Memorial gives climbers the oppotunity to recognise significant achievements in climbing. The following passage was writen by Jane White about nominating momentous achievements and contributions to climbing.

"Anyone interested in nominating or if you know someone who should be nominated for the Rick White Medal 2009 nomination forms are available.
The Medal honours anyone within the climbing community who has contributed significantly to Australian climbing in any form. Last year the nominations were not deemed to have significantly placed Australian climbing on the world stage. The Medal was established in memory of Rick White who was a climbing pioneer and founder of Mountain Designs. Mountain Designs supports the award by giving gear and a monetary incentive to travel overseas for climbing purposes.

The committee of four members of the climbing community, which includes mountaineer Michael Groom, judge each entry on his/her contribution to Australian climbing.

I have always wanted the award to be one of excellence and have set stingent guidelines to the selection criteria. Having said that I am sure that as always there have been significant achievements which will stand up to the committee's scrutiny. I am looking forward to seeing your achievements. Jane White"
