Hello Chockerstone lovlies.
Dearie me, what a serious thread this is.
Maybe this post will help lighten it up, as prompted by what Mr widewetandslippery wrote*. (Waving at you madly Mr widewetandslippery!).
As some of you may know, Derek my M10 love quite likes his alcohol, and this is the reply he gave me when I asked him about the seeming anomally between his love of it and the things he knows and sometimes shares with us.
I am fairly sure that some readers will agree.
No disrespect is intended to either the living or deceased.

Derek's theory of intelligence.

"A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo, and when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.
In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells.
Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells, but naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine, and that is why you always feel smarter after a few beers".

I wish the Dalai Lama all the best in this crux of his life ascent, and also feel reasonably certain that he would not promote excessive use of alcohol.
