So far I don't think anyone has mentioned THE TOUGHEST CATEGORY THERE IS: The false beta flash. That's when you decide to tackle a climb that will be at your limit, and someone gives you complicated and detailed beta that is totally false, complete with bogus advice on what gear to take, which hand to use on the crux undercling and descriptions of some great hands-free rest achievable with a double knee-bar "just behind that flake there ..." ... and somehow you still manage to frig your way up the thing clean.
