I have been working on the Beechworth fires (now low profile compared to others such as Marysville/Kinglake), and there are official roadblocks in fire affected areas. These are mainly due to the safety issue of driving through burnt forests. Trees are constantly falling across roads, and this caused the death of one firefighter.
Non-residents or people working on the fires will most likely be turned away if they do not have permission to be inside the affected areas, so please heed the general message in this thread and stay away if you are not directly involved. |
