Where journo's often do 'anything' just to get a story and comment, many photographers (especially freelancers) can take a step back from the personal side of things unless they are actually invited to capture someones story. After all, destruction and loss aside, the fires are pretty amazing to capture on film. I went to check on my girlfriends parents a couple of days ago out at Panton Hill near Kinglake, her mum was using the orange and black glow from the sky to paint...
