Having spent the weekend at the tent embassy putting up with drunken flag wearing disrespectful redneck yobs until about 2am, i too was quite disheartened. We spent most of Monday morning cleaning tons of empty bottles up after them. The highlight was when a few drunken girls (yelling all sorts of racist comments) had their alcohol confiscated, their flag thrown on the fire and were promptly escorted off the embassy and told to piss off.

"Australia Day" is actually a modern invention of the Howard government, hence the attitude from people that buy into it doesn't surprise me one bit...

What gets me is the view from some of these peoples attitudes ("Australia..If ya dont like it f@#k off") towards immigrants. Don't they realize that they're 3rd/4th generation immigrants themselves?

I just keep thinking of a Dead Kennedy's track... "Who's the real patriots the archie bunker slobs waving flags, or the people with the guts to work for some real change"
