Sometimes I find no fear, often when I'm hungover and I am happy with my climbing. Sometimes the fear stops me from climbing well. But I climb the best when fear helps me, no useful protection, a belayer you don't trust - embrace the fear and don't fall, that's what it's there for, to give you superhuman strength and motivation, knowing that success is the only option, that failure is simply not possible. Work with it, not against it. (NB this is based on experience and should not be taken as rational advice and despite it being entirely true it sounds astonishingly stupid,)
