A bit of logic should explain the BS in this. I heard this explanation too...
Firstly, the Mill DIDN"T go broke... The property value was simply WAY MORE than the business was worth.
The prices went up after Sue from Nuna took over the "space" (the business was no longer operating) from the property developer for a very minimal cost as it was going to close anyway, for redevelopment.
The reason some climbers climbed at cheap rates, and some for free, was marketing..
I climbed cheap 'cause I worked in the industry- so when my customers asked where to go climbing I would say the Mill (smart huh?)
And people like HB gets to climb (probably) free 'cause it makes the place look good ("I climbed with HB" etc.) Do you reckon the Fitzroy Pool would charge Kieren Perkins to do a few laps?
And if it was true that the business didn't make money because of this then why not just start charging those people? It's not as if the new owner had been losing money.

On waivers - interesting... Why do we sign waivers to indemnify the gyms from liability and then get slugged higher entry fees for insurance? Surely one precludes the necessity for the other...
Either we sign a waiver and the gym doesn't need insurance, or we don't need waivers...
(Everybody knows they aren't worth a pinch anyway)
