Another thing to keep in mind is that remote multi pitch routes are considerably more serious undertaken than just your average day out cranking. You've got to be self sufficient and understand that shit can and does happen in the hills......regularly (ask anyone who has climbed alpine style routes). I'm not trying to scare you off but where I'm heading is this - you simply must know how to get you and your partner (and vice versa) down if one of you gets injured. Getting down when in crap conditions when both of you are in working order is one thing - doing so even in good conditions is a far different beast. Could you live with yourself if your mate died because you didn't know self rescue?? Personally, I try my hardest to climb with people who I reckon have a good chance of getting me out if the shit hits the fan and in return I try to keep my rescue skills semi-current.
Its a way too complex subject to discuss here on a thread but I would recommend at least reading a self rescue book (perhaps one of the Falcon Guides) to understand the gig and give it a practice or two.
An extra benefit of this is the confidence it can provide to go harder. If you're not semi-conversant with this stuff then please don't be ignorant and think a bad day out isn't knocking on your door.
Failing all this, if this shit does happen I guess you could always try to convince the media and rescue guys that you slipped whilst bushwalking!?
