many years ago before there was anyone doing rope acces work i was asked to abseil about 6 times down a city building holding a measure to record the distance off a true vertical of a building . my ropes werent long enough to reach without joins so i put them onto a friend . He negotiated for $500 plus 2 new ropes and a harness it took about 2 hrs . Much later i found out that the convential means of the times would have been in excess of $50000 so everyone had a really good win out of the deal i wish i'd thought to ask for new gear. there was a verandah protecting and hiding from the street
