Oh, man is this climbing - A vertical kilometre of hard climbing in less than 3 hours. It's an absurd feat. Most people would struggle to climb a kilometre of ladder in that time.

It's got all of the components that we look for in a climbing challenge - hard technical sections, exposure, managing fatigue, rope and gear management. How is this not climbing?
The fact that they're trying to do it in the quickest possible time is just another element, do you not hold your onsites of the same grade as a greater achievement. Style matters to some.

Having attempted the nose (got half way in 2 days). I may have a bit more respect for the route than most.
And being a personal friend of Hans too, I'm extatic for his achievement, not bad for an old bloke of 44-gives me hope that I'll still be pushing my limits at 44.
