Vic Ranges - Another Steep Price Increase 6-Jan-2004 At 8:46:37 AM Rob668

Went to Vic Ranges last night and noticed that they have gone down a similar track to the Mill (when new ownership took over).

Prices are now-

Adult Entry $16
Student/VCC $14

3month membership $310
3month membership VCC/Student $215

Based on where their prices were even 6 months ago I am certainly not impressed by this blatant profit taking.

I fail to see how they justify the price increases. Having had a membership to the gym for at least the last 12 months, the only services they provided me were swiping my card on the way in (and opening the security door) and saying good-bye to me on the way out (and they still required staff on the door for the non-regulars). At the old VCC price of $50/month I certainly didn't receive valid return in terms of new routes set.

When the Mill (under new ownership) hiked up their prices it killed the gym. From Tuesdays being crowded with trouble finding a rope or boulder problem free it went to being empty with 2 staff members and maybe 10 clients. Then the management would have had trouble justifying setting new routes as they didn't have the clients to support changing them (then the regulars would get bored and exacerbate the situation). This is not a situation I'd like to see at Flemington.

Fundamentally I like Vic Ranges and would continue to renew my membership but not at the increased prices.

If we had enough support maybe their management would change their minds. I’ll be emailing their management and letting them know what I think (vicranges@bigpond.com). Just remember to include your membership number if you do email them.

Sorry to bring bad news.

Rob
