Wow...not sure whether I should be admiring these guys or not. Certainly sounds very gutsy. Is it unethical to place additional gear on aid climbs like this? Particularly since (I imagine) mashies are likely to degrade to the point of uselessness faster than bolts or other fixed gear (being inherently dodgy anyway). Do the same conventions apply as with free climbing routes given that you're hanging off the gear anyway? |
