I'll start up a new topic after our near miss on the weekend. Yep, the temps were high and the wind was strong - and yet another fire has erupted in the Grampians. This time it was a spot fire (lightening?) that appeared around 10am this morning on the Emu Foot Track, which is the access to Eureka Walls, Lost World, Gondwanaland in the Victoria Ranges. We smelt the smoke at the carpark and decided to bail - and were met with a posse of fast moving fire trucks, planes and rangers coming the other direction. According to the the DSE page, this fire has been contained at 6pm tonight http://www.dse.vic.gov.au/fires/updates/report/index2.htm? So, keep your eyes out and report anything that looks suss. The place is tinder dry...
