i reckon there is a for and against. a similar argument came up when the canyons of sydney guide came out. it serves its purpose (people know where to go and what they need etc) but it also outed a lot of 'secret' canyons. but if people want the adventure of doing an unknown canyon, head out into the wollemi. no shortage of canyons not in a guidebook out there. similar with adventure climbs i reckon. if people dont feel like hiking through the bush looking and exploring, they grab a guidebook and follow the instructions. if they feel like a true adventure, they can go out and find a place not in the guidebook or follow that line they saw from the other climb etc.
