I got sloshy belly at a half Ironman race one year when it was quite hot. A massive chuck later and I was able to start absorbing stuff. 3 litres of I.V. at the finish worked a treat too. Ever since I've used salt tablets and it's worked well. In my case, it was possibly caused by getting dyhdrated first and then trying to rehydrate through water. Jo King collapsed at IM Australia (in front of me) in 2002 from hyponatraemia, so it definitely happens. She claims she drank too much.

We could go on and on, my experience is personal, however the bottom line is that it is VERY unlikely to affect climbers except those caught up a big wall in 40 degree heat. The circumstance is almost certainly hypothetical in real world climbing. There's a pretty huge difference between holding a HR of 150 for 10 hours as happens in Ironman vs climbing, even climbing continuously in the sun.
