I'd like to suggest another option, one bit of advice I never took even though I'll tell others.

Let your partner buy them. I assume you have someone to climb with, what do they bring to the party?

Personally I have about a rack and a half, but one rack of cams (friends and some). My regular partners have pretty much the same spread of gear so we end up with nearly 3 racks at the crag. This makes it awkward when some-one asks to borrow some gear, It's ok if I know them well but usually I don't. I take care of my gear so I don't really like to let it out of my sight.

I also agree with buying a different brand for your double up, Kongs have a different range to friends and different to C4. I like a spread.
