Hello Chockies

In the past, Australians have had about seven days after an election was called to check their registration details and ensure they were able to vote.

However the Government recently used its majority to get a new law through Parliament, in which the voter rolls close ON THE DAY that the Prime Minister announces the election date.

It is estimated that, thanks to this law, up to 80,000 people will be disenfranchised. Most of these will be young people, people who rent and who move around a lot, and migrants.

I'm sure a lot of Chockstoners fall into those categories.

So, if you want to exercise your right to change, sorry, choose your Government, please check your voter registration details. Now.
