Since getting involved with saving Orangutans - through the sale of $1.00 freddos at the counter - you ,the climbers and visitors have spent around $7000.00 and for every $1.00 that you spent- Hardrock puts $1.00, the last count we have raised about $15grand, this has allowed us to rescue, rehabilitate and release 1 Orangutan,( it costs $6grand to look after just one) we have purchased medical supplies, and lots of supplys have been donated, we have purchased food and assisted with vets looking after the badly injured Orangutans.
One of the best things we can all do is stop buying items with Palm oil in as the Orangutans habitats are being cut down to plant palm oil trees, there is no where for them to live.
