I think its wrong to assume that PV didn't have their shite together when they did the burn off in spring and not in late autumn/spring. Apart from their lack of resources it is not always possible to do burns over the colder, wetter months as the bush simply will not burn.
We should also acknowledge that hazard reduction burns can be very dangerous. A couple of NSW parkies died a few years back in Kurungai NP when a burnoff flared up.
So in this case maybe things didn't go to plan ...but this is not necessarily a result of mismangement. Shit happens. |
