It's good to hear that Vic Parks is playing a role in trying to manage it's parks. For too long, National or State parks have been managed the wrong way (i.e. NOT burning). It may provide greater access to climbing areas (YAY) or maybe decrease the aesthetic appeal of an area, but for those of you who were concerned about the extent of control or the safety of the little cute and furry animals, you'll be glad to know that fire is well and truly a natural part of Australia's regeneration process (that lovely blue haze across the leaves of eucalypts is a volatile oil to promote fire) and without it (which is often happening in Victorias parks) many plants and hence the animals that depend on them simple cannot survive in the long run. Well done to Vic Parks for their work (burning is hard and tough) and as for the animals, they're tougher than you think.
