General Climbing Discussion

Myself and several other people I climb with have had just about a gut full of the rampant mess that you have created in the Grampians over the last few years.

It's not bad enough that routes have been going up with 7 bolts in 16m (these routes just reflect your short sited view) but this continual addition of rap stations and belays for the safety of all is going to far!

If you or your friends that you justify your actions can not do the routes the way they were first climbed and had numerous ascents, then go do something else or work on your skills so you can. If you feel the risk is to great, then don't take it.

I have had several heated discussion with the NBF in the past over their actions, one point raised was that there activities were just the thin edge of the wedge and other lesser climbers would see it as exceptable behaviour. Your actions of late have proven this to be so!

Your selfish actions do nothing to advance climbing, just drag it down to the lowest common denominator.

Damn man, thats a bit of anger you got going on there. Maybe you should go bouldering... Use that aggression for good, not evil...

Are you serious??!! Someone needs a time-out on the naughty step! Not everyone have the same views as you, quite the opposite actually.

Perhaps its better that you actually sit calmly and chat with Neilo and crew, as it appears that you have with the NBF, rather than targeting cos you're pissed off!

Hey dodgy,

Do you have some examples of what you're talking about? Is it just Neil's new (sports) areas or Neil, have you been bolting up other people's climbs (seems unlikely)?
Dodgy, the gramps is a big place, surely you just have a beef and this (if it is a problem) is not widespread.

More effort should be required from people trying to troll around here, I want photos at least.

I guess it must ease off after that top 'draw but perhaps the rightwards traverse could do with another ring
to protect the second . . . ;-} Helene will help you fix it when s/he heads down . . . .

And the second top bolt needs a longer draw to get rid of that horrendous rope drag.

Never fear - team NSW will be down in the Gramps next week to fix Neil's bolting up.
Some of his routes are way run out.

For sure. 7 bolts in 16m? That route needs at least another 7 bolts.

Eugene Klein is actually the name that Gene Simmons adopted as a child in the US (was born Chaim Witz in Israel).

"Simmons, in demonic makeup, played bass, sang, spat fire and stuck his tongue out really far, and was a regular poster on the Australian climbing forum - Chockstone"

I find it refreshing that after such a long, distinguished career in the world of Rock you have time to post on Chockstone. I eagerly await the next Kiss release: "Neil's outta control, he's got no soul, he's placing bolts"

Rock on

If I can stick clip those bolts from the ground I might have a go at that route, Neil
