Renaming/rebolting aid route/attracting a girl! 2-May-2007 At 11:22:55 AM skip-skip

The long anticipated return of skip-skip has happened! Hopefully this will give a certain bored civil engineer something to ruminate on while he waits for 4 o'clock!

I have a friend who needs some advice on a few important issues. The first is regarding the renaming and rebolting, and possibly bolt removing, of a famous aid route. He(or she) is working on the free ascent of this climb, lets call it Hsemaglig, and wants to rename the route when he(or she) is eventually successful. The name would be along the same theme as the original but may contain cheeky references. I have cautioned him(or her) about stirring up the hornets nest which is Victorian climbing ethics but to no avail. My friend also wishs to be even more provocative. The route is mostly protected by bolts and 2 pitons and follows much of the original aid line. Seeing as the first aid ascentionists saw fit to hammer an ugly bolt ladder up a blank roof, my friend thinks it would be fine to rebolt the entire free route in a more aesthetic fashion. He/she then wishes to remove the bolt ladder, which is a rusting mess. What would peoples advice be to my friend?

On a more amusing note, my friend( the same one) has also taken an interest in a comely girl who works in a pub in Fitzroy. The rest of this has unfortunately been taken too seriously and has hence been edited!
