Being somewhat new to this caper most of my experiences are in the gym. On a recent visit to my climbing gym I saw 2 guys "strutting their funky stuff" as though they were gods gift to climbing. The belayer clipped into the gri gri at the base of the climb and his partner clipped onto the next rope along, presumably they were discussing how great they were and didn't notice until the guy was a couple of metres off the ground, which is when i noticed and told them. How the belayer didn't notice when he pulled in the slack is beyond me but hopefully having the situation explained to them by someone who still has the shine on his climbing shoes brought the egos down a little.
