OK Garrath,so maybe I was a bit short with you in my last coupla posts, and not that helpful. Sorry. The point is, it's climbing we're talking about, not borrowing someone's favourite lawn bowls set. Mate the consequences of stuffing up are just a teensy bit more serious than screwing up that bid for the jack. You need to be able to rely on your gear, period. F&*k it, buy cheap clothing, beanies, whatever, but don't scrimp on your rack. Buy the best you can afford. If you must hire, save it to non crucial gear, such as your shoes, but not your rack or your rope. If you can't afford it, save up a while and wait till you can. There is no way I'd personally take pot luck with some fu&*ing hired rack of gear that's had god knows what done to it, how many falls, dropped down the Watchtower Crack, whatever, of course none of it logged. And that includes a Bendigo rack, especially a Bendigo rack! Latrobe uni, that is. Is this more helpful? |
