Ive just finished working on a doco in HD, and it is beautiful when shot in HD 1920x1080. Unfortunately the director also wanted to include some DV footage 4x3 720x576. I tried all manner of things (plugins for fcp, after effects blah blah.) to make this footage match the HD and have to say it was dissapointing. Ide really recomend not trying to upscale the footage youve got. Instead, maybe consider a design element - like a 'frame' for the archival stuff./ It could really add to the overall look of the program. Dogtown was pretty heavy duty post wise and ended up with a really tight program. Ide be really happy to help out in the post(design) side of things and have a fair few connections (in Canberra) if you need it.
