There are two species of Callitris at Mt Arapelis. The most common one is Callitris rhomboides (Port Jackson Pine). You will find it on everything that is more rocky. You can distinguish it from other pines by one very bold conical “wart” on every of the five scales of the cone. On the flats you may find also Callitris glaucophylla (White Cypress-pine), which is a real tree and grows up to 25 meter in height. The scales of the cones do not have a “wart”. Maybe you get here and there also Callitris verrucosa,, bushy and small like rhomboids, but the scales have a lot of little wards. However, this species grows more westerly and northerly of the Mount.
