On fixed lenses and value for money, a couple of the better after market manufacturers (Sigma particularly) make excellent fast apeture prime (fixed) lenses. If you want speed, Sigmas 28mm F1.8 is only a couple of hundred bucks NEW! When I bought mine a Nikon equivelent 28 F2 was two grand. They also made a good 24 F2.8 for similar money, now it's a 1.8 too! ( http://www.sigmaphoto.com/html/Fixed.htm )
And in wides they go nuts, the other thing is that aftermarket stuff is even (relatively) cheaper than genuine secondhand. Canon isn't too bad because their manual focus stuff isn't in much demand, but we (I used to work at the Camera Exchange) could get 2/3 of new for anything Nikon... And the T90 has to be one of the best MF cameras ever (IMHO), course I wouldn't mind an Olympus OM3TI :-)
With light metering the T90 is pretty good, but if you average a bunch of the wrong subject areas you still won't get the right reading (the AVERAGE of shit, is SHIT). In an ideal world, everything would reflect 18% of the light falling on it, and the camera would give a perfect exposure on a GREY world, everytime... If you want reliable readings, simply measure the light FALLING on the subject, not reflected from it. For this you need a hand held meter, and it works.
