True, I'm off to Bogong this morning for new shoes. Sometimes though it's good to deal with people who know bugger all, cuts out egos and poorly given advice, being a climber doesn't necessarily mean you know your craft ie you can be male AND a gynecologist!

As for Anaconda, I go there because I want a particular item and don't want advice, I understand the need to protect themselves from duds, it was more the agressive way they approached me about the checks, also the lack of forewarning ie fine print! It says on their material that they will match "any stocked item", I would have thought walking in with an ad from another company was reasonable proof, they should also state that they do a phone check and calculate distance in the pricing if that's the case!
