Thanks mates for the reminder on that piece - actually I think that I did come across it previously and may have a copy somewhere under this mound of climbing guides I have piled around this machine ( which reminds me of some outstanding entries I need to get to for the Simon et al at yourcrag.com). That is a good piece and I will refresh my memory on that one. Probably the embedded source for my thoughts on the extreme dubious nature of a two wrap autoblock. You lads and lasses have some robust cumulative experience with rapping/ abseiling down there so it is good to get the stuff out there to the community so the info is shared and used. I will note it for the Supertopos mob - that thread is meandering all over the breadth and depth of climbing gear and I expect that many down in the Valley and elsewhere may not be aware of it.

When I retire my Arctyerx harness I will donate it to the "Wall of Memories" in the Nati pub! After the first vegemite free ascent of Australia Mt this upcoming spring - it will definitely be a collectors item - iconic even!

4 kidneys - the upside would be that you could drink more VB and still not rust out on the inside - the downside would be that you would feel guilty and have to donate a couple to some intinerent and challenged Kiwis embedded here and there.

Snow on the ground here - ice climbing season but inasmuch as there is not much vertical stuff close at hand I am forced to go horizonatal - climbing (at 55 it somethimes feels like climbing!) back and forth with a hockey stick and puck - ticked three goals tonight so not quite ready to be consigned to the scrap heap yet. Can hardly wait to get back to Araps closet and deal with a few of my skeletons.

Cheers
