New Magazine - Adventure Journal
Adventure Publishing is a small, Australian publisher catering for the
outdoors and adventure reader. After two successful issues of the
Adventure Gear Guide, a high quality annual equipment-based mag,
Adventure Publishing is preparing to launch a new article-based mag
called the Adventure Journal.
The Journal will be printed on quality paper, will be perfect bound and
will appear annually. The launch issue will be a minimum of 148 pages.
It will be distributed nationally through newsagents and outdoor
retailers.
Coverage will be across bushwalking, climbing, paddling, general
camping and related activities. The articles will be about special
journeys, experiences, the wonderful things that happen out in the bush
and some of the more daunting things that bring us back to earth while
"out there".
The publishers are currently seeking articles and photos from potential
contributors. If you have ideas you'd like to discuss please contact
the editor, Lucas Trihey before commencing work to discuss your ideas,
length etc. We are looking for something new and different! Please get
in touch of you'd like to receive our Contributor Guidelines.

Nice work getting this off the ground Lucas! Best of luck... hopefully we don't steal each others content
too much ;-)

i'm sure that won't be a problem Neil...ah hem...
no, seriously, we'll only have a few climbing stories each issue but we'll be looking to make them really
good ones! Congratulations on Crux, it was good to see quality production values, nice binding and some
good articles - it's become a rare combination - nice work.

Will you be accepting photo submissions? - or just full articles?

both - we'll have a section of short articles (just one or two pages) that we'll be needing to source pics for.
also interested to hear most article ideas and see pics - we are paying something between the established
outdoors mags and the bigger circulation mags - around 30 cents/word and about $150/page for pics. We
will improve this further as we grow. we are making a determined effort to (1) give potential contributors a
new (more lucrative) venue for placing their work and (2) giving readers a big fat mag full of quality articles
and pics.

The first issue of the Adventure Journal is now on sale and we are starting work on the second issue so
if any chockstone members have specific ideas for articles please drop a line and we can discuss
possibilities. You'll see from the first issue that it's a bit different to the other mags - we are working hard
to get beneath the skin of the Australian outdoor experience. If you want to see a copy they are in
newsagencies (until early July), some outdoor retailers (until March 08) or can be ordered from our
website.

cheers, at this stage we'll be keeping it annual but after the 2008 issue we'll look at going bi-annual (12
months is just too long between mags!). so for contributions we'll need to be talking ideas between now
and September and then nailing down articles and word counts later in the year. We'll go to print in early
March next year.

BTW - check this out - something I did a while ago - 36m jump (the pic has been around for a while
now...)

A classic photo lucas. I think it was in Inside Sport circa early 90s from memory? Even 36m looks
frightening!
