Regarding the guide training, a few days of formal training does not seem to me to be a very long time.
For example, in France, to get into the course, you need to onsight 2 of 3 routes graded 22-24 as well as provide a logbook with minimum requirements. Then you need to pass 2 general sports exams (either by preparing yourself or getting 160h-200h of lessons) After that, you have 10 weeks of climbing-specific training and 4 exams. This is all supervised by the government.
If you want to train other people, you need to pass additional qualification.
