CRUX Magazine Issue #1 launch! 28-Sep-2006 At 9:14:21 AM cruxmag
Message
Hello Australia!

The long awaited new Australasian Climbing Journal, CRUX Magazine, has begun to hit the shelves of
leading outdoor retailers!

The first issue features a diverse snapshot of climbing writing, photography, bullshit and hyperbole.
Feature articles include Hawkesbury Deep Water Soloing, Ben Lomond, Irish Climbing, Desert Road
Tripping, NZ Alpine Adventures plus profiles on a handful of unearthed ‘secret crags’. There are also
entertaining columns for camp cooking, photography, training, fiction, history, bolting, home gyms,
dirtbagging, health and a huge crossword. It is 96 pages of spring time entertainment.

The magazine will be available in many outdoor retailers and gyms throughout Australia at the RRP of
$8.99. If your local shop doesn’t stock it then ask them why!

During the next few days CRUX will be distributed throughout Australia. The magazine should be
available TODAY at ; The Lactic Factory - Abottsford, Bogong Equipment - Melbourne, Paddy Pallin -
Melbourne, Cliffhanger Gym - Altona, Hardrock Gym - Nunanwading and The Wilderness Shop - Box
Hill. Other Australlian retailers will be getting magazines in the next few days. We will keep you up to
date when and where this will be.

If you can’t get to a shop then you can order the mag online or subscribe at
www.onsight.com.au/shop

Please make sure you also spread the word about this new alternative climbing magazine to all of your
climbing friends and enemies. The more contributors and readers we gain, the better the magazine will
be.

We hope you are as excited with the finished result as we all are. It has been quite a journey for
everyone involved and we would like to thank the following people for their invaluable help with issue
#1 ; Adam Bramwell, Adam Demmert, Anthony Alexander, Belinda Rees, Bob McMahon, Brad
Carmady, Caine Delacy, Cameron O’Neill, Craig Ingram, Doug Hockley, Gemma Woldendorp, Gerry
Narkowicz, James Pfrunder, Joe Goding, John Mader, Jono Schmidt, Josh Caple, Justin Jefferson,
Katherine Dicker, Lee Cujes, Marten Blumen, Mathew Farrell, Michael Boniwell, Michael Meadows,
Mike Law, Neil Monteith, Nick Hanc--k, Owen Gervasoni, Rob Baker, Rob Vanhaeften, Robert
McMahon, Roger Bourne, Rowan Druce, Scott Hailstone, Simon Carter, Simon Moses, Simon Murry,
Simon Sirotti, Steve Hawkshaw, Steve Kelly, Terry Tynan, Tim Haasnoot and Tim Parington. There
were many others who sent in content that will appear in forthcoming issues!

Of course we have many more magazines to create and we plan to publish a new issue every four
months. For our upcoming issues we are looking for more ‘left field’ content. Art, reviews of music/
food, satire etc are all high on our list of most wanted items. We are also after the magazine staples of
exciting articles and fantastic photos. We will pretty much publish anything that entertains or inflames
our audience! If you have something you think is worthwhile for CRUX then please don’t hesitate to get
in touch with us. Our editors love giving feedback and working with you to achieve the best results.
We prefer to collaborate rather than dictate.

The deadline for contributions for our next issue is October 15. I know that is very soon but so is
Christmas!

As always we will continue to offer randomly drawn prizes to contributors. Issue #1 contributors won a
free rope, books, clothing and climbing holds. We hope to offer similarly great prizes for anyone who
gets published in Issue #2. Keep an eye on the website to see the next round of prizes on offer.
Please let us know what you want to see more of in the next issue by posting on this forum.

Thanks!
