It's a good book. It's well organised and the writing style is easy to read. It covers a lot of the same ground as the pile of wilderness first aid books out there but definitely goes into more detail. If you're a medico you might find that you know most of it already (eg trauma is probably trauma wherever it happens), but there are good sections on infectious diseases, altitude, animals and cold/heat injuries that are much more specific to wilderness/mountaineering type activities. It doesn't cover things in huge detail but that's probably deliberate as they're obviously trying to keep it concise and practical.

One thing to note is that it's very US-centric with regard to things such as animal attacks, spider/snake bites and infectious disease (eg the snake bite treatment is completely different for Australian snakes). Small gripe really.

Keep looking in the outdoor stores. It definitely used to be in a couple of the places on Kent st (sydney) though I think I got mine from Amazon.
