A gym owner would be mad not to open a comp up to as many people as possible. Comps cost heaps of money to put on.
Mike has just had a NSW champion ship. Queensland are about to have one but had to drop the opens, see SCA home page. How can the SCA have some form of qualifier for the opens when some States won't or can't hold comps.

Frankly Mike and his crew should be congratulated not vilified.

If you Opens can’t stand the heat from the Juniors, perhaps you should hang up your shoes. Juniors compete and open world cup events as well. Under UIAA rules they have to be 16 and above. The SCA are just keeping in tune with the rest of the world. The difference this year is that you won’t have the younger ones in there. In previous years Libby, Callum, Tom and others were not old enough, but still competed in opens. Both Libby and Callum are old enough this year, but Libby is unlikely to climb as she is injured.
