Where do I begin... This sort of comment is uninformed to the point of being moronic. Whilst smoking undoubtedly has an effect on things like lung capacity and VO2Max, climbing is an activity that occurs at a level of respiratory exertion way below the sort of threshold that smoking might have an effect on. If anything, the appetite suppressant effect of smoking could well help top climbers keep weight off.

If smoking offends you for whatever reason, that's fine. It bugs the crap out of me. But please don't post utter bullshit to substantiate your point of view and then try and gussy it up in the name of science.
