I m not a suitable person to advise but I ve been leading for three years, mostly on and off, and have not taken a fall as yet. I hear the longer you wait to take the first one the harder it will be. So this is how I find myself leading up to grade 15 on every trip and not venturing above that. It is rather annoying as well cause grades heigher than 15 usually involve more interesting moves and thus are more fun.
I ve also been predominantly climbing with people that dont lead which also is a limiting factor in my opinion. Especially if you are the kind of person that needs a bit of a push or encouragement. By that I dont mean you should climb with a wacko who will psych you up to climb something rediculously hard for your ability rather someone who knows your ability and can give you a bit of a push to take the next step.
