I, too have to agree with garbie's reasonings. I guess this is a case where it's not unfair to make a rule to minimize hazards. If it was my gym I might be a bit concerned as well. I personally never cared too much for grigris because: 1.you're forced to stay above a certain rope size (diameter) 2.you have 2 speeds - fast and stop! 3.I have to think too much when setting it up for a top rope back up belay!
