Totally agree! If only it was so simple, though. In this day and age you can't just let people do what they like & hope they do the right thing, then say "well it was your fault". In this case it was their fault & they are not blaming anyone else - they're real climbers & know the score. Real climbers want the freedom to use their own gear, lead, take falls etc - thats what I want when I go to a gym. But we need to provide as safe as system as possible to others who climb part time, who just want to have a fun night & dont know the intricacies of using a Gri Gri safely.

We walk a fine line between letting climbers do what they want & taking responsibility for what they do & protecting the less savvy, (but still worthy citizens in other respects!) from themselves.
