Its always the rope, belay device, holds, partner, wall never the persons fault.

Goin back to the original accident causing the banning of gri gri's. The climbers were using a rope that was not designed to be used by the device. - climbers error. "but they had used that rope before with the gri-gri" big deal I could not double back my harness and it wouldn't be a problem until I loaded it. Just because it hadn't screwed up in the past doesn't mean it won't.

We seem to be living in a society "where rights are for me and responsbility is for everbody else"... I worked in a gym for 5 years and it was always someone elses fault. Grow up everybody assume responsibility for yourselves and others.

If you choose to use a particular belay device, use it as its designed for for, use it in the documented way and respect your partner - pay attention.
